Despite our best efforts, dental emergencies can and do happen to the best of us. It is very important that you know what your first steps should be if these situations arise. Becoming familiar with dental emergency procedures can make the difference between saving and losing a tooth. In all cases, we urge you to call our dentist in Brandon, Florida, so that you can come in for an appointment as soon as possible.

Toothache
To relieve toothache discomfort, floss to remove any food that may be trapped between the teeth. In addition, rinse the area with warm water. Come to Dental Excellence of Brandon as soon as possible.

Knocked Out Tooth
If you or a loved one gets a tooth knocked out, please act quickly to increase the chances of the tooth being saved. Rinse the tooth off with cold water, but do not scrub it. Then attempt to place the tooth back into the open socket in the mouth. If the tooth does not go back in easily, place the tooth in a small container of milk or water instead. See Dr. A. Alessio Conte as soon as possible.

Bitten Tongue
If you bite your tongue forcefully enough to cause bleeding, gently clean the area with a clean cloth. Use a cold compress on the face to reduce any swelling. Seek treatment from our dentist or the emergency room as soon as possible if the bleeding is heavy or does not stop quickly.

We encourage you to contact our office at 813-681-5515 as soon as possible if you or a loved one is experiencing a dental emergency. We are here to help!
